Lens shift first. Vertical lens shift (−25% to +150%) moves the picture without changing its geometry; keystone (±15°) digitally squares the edges and is best used sparingly.

How do I watch Netflix on the V811?

Plug an HD streaming stick or smart box into one of the V811’s two HD inputs, select that input with the remote, and sign in on the stick. The apps run on the stick.

Can I leave the V811 outside?

No. The V811 is rated for indoor and outdoor use, but it should be kept dry and brought inside after each outdoor screening.

Step 01

Choose the spot

Decide how big you want the picture first, then place the projector. The V811 projects a 40″ to 400″ picture from 1.5 m to 4 m away. Closer gives a smaller, brighter picture; further back gives a larger one.

For a living room, a 100″–150″ picture over the sofa is the sweet spot. For a dedicated theater or a backyard screen, go bigger. For a meeting room, size the picture so the smallest text on your slides is readable from the back row.

Put the V811 on a stable, level surface — a shelf behind the seating, a coffee table, or a ceiling mount. Leave the side vents clear so the 25 dB fan can do its job quietly.

Step 02

Connect a source

Use either HD input for a streaming stick, a game console, a laptop or a disc player. This is also how the V811 becomes a smart TV: the stick brings the apps.

Use the AV input for older players, cameras and set-top boxes, and the two multimedia inputs for media sources. The audio input and your external speakers or soundbar handle sound.

Tip: keep a streaming stick in HD 1 and a console or laptop in HD 2. Both stay connected, and the remote switches between them.

Step 03

Focus and zoom

Switch on and select the input with the wireless IR remote. Then turn the manual focus until fine text — a menu, subtitles — is crisp. The lens focuses across 22.5–185 mm.

Adjust the size with the manual zoom before you move the projector. Moving the unit is the last resort, not the first.

Step 04

Square the picture: lens shift and keystone

If the picture sits too high or too low, use vertical lens shift (−25% to +150%) first. Lens shift moves the whole picture without distorting it, which keeps every pixel sharp.

If the picture is still a trapezoid because the projector is tilted, use keystone correction (±15°) to square the edges. Use as little as you need.

Step 05

Pick the right picture settings

Select widescreen for films, series, streaming and games, and standard for older 4:3 content. The V811 supports both aspect ratios.

Use picture-in-picture to keep a second source on screen — a game with a stream, or slides with a camera feed. Digital video noise reduction cleans up lower-quality sources.

For 3D, play 3D content from a compatible 3D source and wear compatible 3D glasses; the V811’s light engine is optimized for it.

Step 06

Taking it outdoors

The V811 is rated for commercial-grade indoor and outdoor use. Start after sunset for the best contrast, set it on a dry, stable table, and run power with an outdoor-rated extension cord.

Keep it out of rain and heavy dew, and bring it inside when the screening ends — a projector should never be left out overnight.

Step 07

Care and running costs

There is no lamp to replace: the LED source is rated for 30,000 hours. Keep the vents dust-free, clean the lens only with a microfibre cloth, and let the fan run for a moment after switching off.
